A lifelong student and teacher, curiosity lead Elise to the yoga mat in 2000. After many years as a competitive athlete, the toll on her physical body was evident and yoga drew her in as a way to bring strength, flexibility and peace into her daily life. After the birth of her second child, she found herself in need of a way to establish a deeper body-mind connection to get through this crazy thing called life and embarked on her yoga journey in a new way while incorporating the biggest teacher of all, her kids.
A native of North Carolina, Elise has lived all over the country and everywhere she has landed she’s found her way into a yoga studio to lay her roots and find her tribe. Elise moved to Austin in 2017 and undertook her yoga teacher training with Kate Waitzkin, Gioconda Parker, Shanti Kelly and Collette Hill at Wanderlust. She also acknowledges her teachers Toni Cupal and Janya Wongsopa for unveiling new paths of yoga and awakening her call to teach. Elise is a 200 hour RYT and teaches vinyasa, kid’s yoga and yin. She is a certified elementary-school teacher and spiritual director as well as a writer and musician; she loves to bring music as well as meditation into her classes and has yet to meet a yin pose she doesn’t love.
Off the mat, you will find her volunteering with a variety of family-focused organizations in the Austin community as well as spending time doing “all the things” with her family. “How we spend our days is how we spend our lives.
” Live. Laugh. Love. Hope to see you in the class soon; namaste.
